Job summary

Vanguard Laboratory in Olympia, WA is seeking a Mass Spectrometry Scientist to operate and advance LC-MS/MS, HRMS, GC-MS, and HPLC methods. You will develop, validate, and troubleshoot analytical procedures for peptides, pharmaceuticals, and supplements, ensuring data quality and compliance.

The role emphasizes method development, data interpretation, and training of analysts, with a focus on ISO/IEC 17025–based quality system adherence and timely client turnaround.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Significant hands-on MS experience with LC-MS/MS, HRMS, GC-MS or related platforms.
• Demonstrated method development or validation experience.
• Strong chromatography, ionization, and quantitation understanding.
• Ability to balance development work with routine testing and turnaround requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS, HRMS, GC-MS, HPLC, and UHPLC systems.
• Develop targeted LC-MS/MS methods using MRM and other modes.
• Perform HRMS for accurate-mass confirmation and impurity characterization.
• Develop quantitative methods for active ingredients and contaminants.
• Mentor analysts and document validation and training records.
