Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space seeks a Mass Properties Engineer to predict and manage mass properties for satellites, missiles, and aerospace systems. You will calculate mass properties, update databases, and lead audits and weight-reduction initiatives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, prepare reports, and support design reviews to ensure payloads meet performance and cost targets. A security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Proficient in calculating mass properties (mass, 3-axis CG) and creating simple tools.
• Perform mass properties analysis to resolve weight, CG, MOI from assemblies.
• Interpreting detailed mechanical designs from drawings or models.
• Experience with weight/CG measurements by multiple load-cell methods.
• Maintain mass properties databases and configuration control.
• Apply industry standards (SAWE, AIAA 1208) in analyses.
• Strong CAD skills to extract mass props data and support analyses.
• US Citizenship with a Secret security clearance prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide Mass Properties support to missile, reentry, or special programs.
• Calculate mass properties and update mass properties database.
• Lead design reviews with mass properties data and trade studies.
• Lead mass properties audits and develop test procedures.
• Facilitate mass properties control boards and weight-reduction teams.
• Document and publish analysis reports.
• Lead mass properties effort on small programs.
