Job summary

Southern Scape LLC in Alabama is seeking a hands-on Masonry Lead to join our outdoor-focused team. You will supervise masonry crews, read scaled drawings, coordinate projects, and ensure quality, safety, and on-time delivery. Two+ years of masonry experience, strong leadership, communication, and a positive, energetic work ethic are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years masonry experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to read scaled landscape drawings.
  • Good communication with customers, manager, and coworkers.
  • Leader and team player.
  • Energetic and motivated.
  • Punctual and positive attitude.
  • Strong management and organization skills.
  • Experience with project and/or account management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs masonry work using skills developed through at least one year of hands-on experience.
  • Complete masonry tasks such as laying bricks, blocks, and stone with proficiency gained from a minimum of one year of experience.
  • Apply masonry techniques and best practices learned through at least one year of prior masonry work.
  • Utilize masonry skills to construct, repair, and maintain structures in accordance with quality standards.
  • Plans and executes hardscaping projects, using manual and power operated equipment.
  • Installs retaining walls of modular concrete, ledge rock, boulders, and timbers.
  • Prepares layout, using laser level, of patios and walkways with steps and elevation changes and installs according to prints provided.
  • Assists Project Manager with daily operations and projects.
  • Tracks and reports daily field progress.
  • Operates and maintains landscaping tools and machinery.
  • Keep job site safe and secure.
  • Ensures all crew members use PPE and follow safety guidelines.
  • Leader for implementation, safety trainings, team building, and participation in crew member reviews.
  • Manages the performance of services to meet company standards and exceed customer expectations.
  • Meets deadlines and project budgets.

Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Masonry required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to read scaled landscape drawings.
  • Must have good communication skills with customers, manager, and coworkers.
  • Leader and team player.
  • Energetic and motivated.
  • Punctual and positive attitude.
  • Strong management and organization skills.
  • Experience with project and/or account management preferred.
  • Strong work ethic.
Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily conducted outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Terrain may be uneven, muddy, or sloped, depending on the worksite.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (often 50+ lbs), and operating landscaping equipment. May involve repetitive motions and use of hand and power tools.
  • Full-time work schedule, with early morning start times.
  • Overtime or weekend work may be required during peak seasons or to meet project deadlines.
