Job summary

Mason Street Grill in downtown Milwaukee is seeking a friendly Part-Time Host to welcome guests, manage reservations, and seat guests, setting the tone for a memorable dining experience.

You will greet guests, escort to tables, present menus, handle reservations, answer phones, and keep the host stand clean while supporting servers during busy periods. Wage is $17.61/hour with meal benefits and discounts.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with reservation systems such as OpenTable.

As a Host at Mason Street Grill, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, setting the tone for their dining experience. You will greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and ensure that every guest feels welcomed and cared for from the moment they arrive.

Mason Street Grill in downtown Milwaukee has become a local favorite for wood-grilled steaks, fresh seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and jazz music. What you will be doing:

• Warmly greet guests as they arrive and check for reservations or log walk-ins.
• Escort guests to their tables, present menus and wine lists, and introduce the assigned server.
• Manage the flow of seating to ensure even distribution and timely service.
• Receive, record, and organize reservations and special requests.
• Answer phones promptly and courteously, using proper greeting and communication standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area.
• Assist with coat check and validate guest parking.
• Support servers and bussers by assisting as needed to ensure seamless service.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

• Prior restaurant or hospitality experience required; host/hostess experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain composed during busy periods.
• Ability to move through crowded spaces while escorting guests.
• Knowledge of proper etiquette and guest service standards.
• Familiarity with reservation systems such as OpenTable preferred.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
