At Elite Metal Finishing, LLC., the Masking Department Manager is responsible for ensuring that parts are masked per customer requirements and utilizing the most efficient/appropriate materials available. This individual must have excellent analytical and technical skills, coupled with the ability to mentor others effectively.

The Masking Department Manager supports Elite Metal Finishing quality initiatives, which includes Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, and Quality Management System and drives continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

Salary: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

• Work with Masking Planning Operators and Customers to obtain masking approval for new parts.
• Creating new Masking Templates through Adobe Illustrator, based on the requirements of each job order
• Verifying templates for accuracy with First Article maskers
• Maintain and organize Job Cards in the network
• Managing the opening and closing of the masking facility (startup / shut down).
• Scheduling employees / Enforcing attendance policies
• Sourcing of Masking supplies and tools as determined by inventory level; anticipating needed, verifying receipt of supplies
• Ensure that parts are being handled in a safe, clutter free environment appropriate to their size and geometry
• Planning, scheduling and approving masking jobs
• Contacting Quality when a part is damaged, or the finish has been compromised
• Maintaining Masking equipment performance by establishing maintenance procedures, staff training/compliance, arranging service & repair. Primarily troubleshooting plotter issues
• Implementation of programs, tests, methods and procedures related to masking processing. This may include ongoing training by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies
• Monitoring Masking productivity by monitoring workload of different functional areas, and adjusting staffing as required. This also includes employee training when needed.
• Attend Quality meetings and communicate any masking related subjects of discussion into action within the masking department
• Supporting customer and regulatory audits of Masking functions and activities
• Supporting the Quality Department by participating in audits, corrective action efforts, adjusting in policy/procedure, generating reports and maintaining records
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

College Degree preferred – Work Experience Accepted

• Work experience Masking/Testing Environment, 4 years minimum
• Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Management experience, 4 years minimum
• Must be able to work overtime, weekends as required

Physical Requirements

• Required to stand and walk for extended periods while supervising and supporting masking operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers for handling, gripping, positioning, applying, and removing masking materials, including tapes, plugs, caps, fixtures, and other masking devices.
• Requires sufficient manual dexterity and fine motor coordination to demonstrate and perform detailed masking techniques on parts with varying sizes, shapes, and configurations.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, including reaching at, above, and below shoulder level.
• Regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements while inspecting or assisting with production activities.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move parts, containers, fixtures, masking materials, and related equipment weighing up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with assistance or material-handling equipment when appropriate.
• Must be able to safely work around production equipment, chemical-processing areas, racks, carts, tanks, and other manufacturing operations.
• Requires the ability to visually inspect detailed masking work, including small features, edges, holes, surfaces, masking boundaries, and workmanship for accuracy and conformance with applicable work instructions and customer requirements.
• Must be able to distinguish details, markings, part features, and masking locations necessary to verify proper masking and processing requirements.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment and hear or otherwise perceive alarms, warnings, instructions, and other safety-related communications, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) applicable to the work area, which may include safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective footwear, and other required protective equipment.
• Must be able to perform work in a manufacturing environment that may involve noise, odors, temperature variations, chemical-processing operations, and exposure to moving equipment, subject to required engineering controls, PPE, and established safety procedures.
