Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Branford, CT is seeking a dedicated Masker Trainee for weekend shifts. The role involves masking blades and parts for OEM customers, with 36 hours weekly and compensation for 40 hours.

The weekend schedule is 5:00 AM–5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, with one or two additional days during the week per preference. The candidate will follow work instructions, use specialized masking methods, and ensure proper protection of areas during production processes.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Good math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Good organizational skills in maintaining a variety of records and reports.
• The work environment may include loud noise, heat/fumes, and hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Performs masking assignments using tapes, waxes, liquids, powders and fixtures as directed.
• Performs dry masking using powder, cups and a dry press machine per work instructions.
• Follow instructions from internal routers, manuals or visual pictures as needed.
• Uses tools like razor blades, files, scalpels and gauges to apply proper amounts and complete work accurately.
• Mixes binder and thinner to achieve proper flow of liquid mask.
• Dips parts into solution or uses handheld devices to apply liquid mask for protection.
• Mask to fill internal crevices with powder or hot wax mask on specific parts.
• Monitor own work and assure proper mask is applied before releasing parts to next process.
• Demask and deburr parts as instructed after work is completed.
• Move cartons to designated pickup location and complete related paperwork.
• Use proper containerization methods for hazardous waste and keep area 6S-compliant.
• Adhere to safety rules and wear protective equipment as directed.
