Job summary

REV Entertainment seeks a Mascot Handler to support the New Mexico Goatheads mascot during home games, community appearances, and promotional events in Rio Rancho, NM. You will help move the mascot, manage crowds, and coordinate with game staff to keep performances on schedule.

The role requires strong communication, high energy, and comfort around large crowds, with duties including hydration, safety, costume care, and promoting activations at events. Nights and weekends are expected.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Production Director and event staff on mascot activities.
• Assist with mascot costume setup, transport, storage, and care.
• Provide water, breaks, cooling, and other support as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of mascot performer identity.
• Help execute mascot promotions, skits, and sponsored activations.
• Represent REV Entertainment professionally to fans and partners.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB TITLE: Mascot Handler

The Mascot Handler is responsible for assisting and supporting Billy, the official mascot of the New Mexico Goatheads, during home games, community appearances, promotional events, and other team activities. This position helps ensure the safety of the mascot performer while coordinating movement, managing crowd interactions, keeping appearances on schedule, and supporting the execution of mascot-related promotions. The Mascot Handler serves as the primary point of communication between the mascot performer and event staff while the performer is in costume. The ideal candidate is attentive, dependable, outgoing, and comfortable working in crowded and fast-paced environments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

• Accompany and assist the New Mexico Goatheads mascot during home games, community appearances, promotional events, and other assigned activities.
• Help guide the mascot safely through crowds, concourses, seating areas, backstage areas, and other event spaces.
• Maintain awareness of potential hazards and help protect the mascot performer from unsafe interactions or environments.
• Serve as the primary verbal communicator for the mascot when necessary.
• Help manage fan interactions, photo opportunities, lines, and crowd flow.
• Keep mascot appearances and game-day elements on schedule.
• Coordinate with the Production Director, game presentation staff, event organizers, and other team personnel regarding mascot activities.
• Assist with mascot costume setup, transportation, storage, and care.
• Provide the mascot performer with water, breaks, cooling assistance, and other support as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of mascot performer identity when applicable.
• Help execute mascot promotions, skits, and sponsored activations.
• Represent the New Mexico Goatheads and REV Entertainment professionally when interacting with fans and event partners.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others; move continuously throughout the facility; stand and walk for extended periods; traverse stairs, concourses, seating areas, and hard or potentially slippery surfaces; and assist with mascot equipment as needed.
• Must be able to transport, position, or move mascot costume pieces, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Position may require frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying, and movement through crowded environments.
• This position may require work inside or outside of a building and in varying temperatures or weather conditions.
• Must be able to work extended and non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
