Position Summary

MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY, located in southern Virginia near the North Carolina border, is seeking a seasonal employee with maintenance technical expertise to serve the facility during race event weekends. The role includes maintaining the overall condition of the building and grounds, performing routine preventative maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, facilities, and mechanical equipment, and participating in general cleaning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive building maintenance duties.
• Conduct routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks, or urinals, fixing water leaks, and repairing leaking faucets.
• Execute routine electrical repairs including changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps, and assisting in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
• Assemble and move furniture, hang pictures, and set up and tear down chairs, tables, and equipment in meeting and function rooms.
• Participate in general cleaning, painting, and repair work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years old.
• High School Graduate or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License and successful completion of a driving record check (preferred, not required).
• Basic office systems knowledge including computer and mobile phone usage.
• Microsoft Office suite knowledge preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in environments with a wide range of temperature and weather conditions (extreme heat/cold). The position requires extended periods of standing and walking, frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs., and climbing (extension ladders, stairs, and ramps). Work may occur in and out of ditches.
