The Marketing Manager is a hands-on graphic designer and content creator who produces compelling visual and written communications that advance awareness, engagement, and impact of United Way of Greater Houston's Community Impact initiatives, including economic mobility, financial stability services, 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE, disaster preparedness and recovery, nonprofit capacity-building programs, early childhood and youth development, and other mission-driven programs and initiatives. The Marketing Manager translates these complex programs into clear, audience-focused creative work across digital, print, social, web, email, presentations, and multimedia channels. This position is responsible for day-to-day creative production, including graphic design, copywriting, message development, storytelling, content editing, campaign asset development, and digital content production, while ensuring alignment with United Way's brand standards and organizational priorities.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Graphic Design and Creative Production: Designs and produces high-quality, brand-aligned creative assets that support Community Impact programs, initiatives, events, and campaigns. Develops brochures, fact sheets, flyers, reports, presentations, infographics, social graphics, digital ads, signage, email graphics, web assets, and other marketing collateral from concept through final production. Applies strong typography, layout, visual hierarchy, image selection, and production standards to create accessible, audience-centered materials for print and digital use. Prepares files for publication and vendor production, incorporates feedback, and delivers polished final assets on deadline.Content Creation, Writing, Messaging, and Storytelling: Writes, edits, and produces clear, compelling content for websites, email campaigns, social media, presentations, brochures, fact sheets, impact stories, testimonials, program communications, reports, scripts, and campaign materials. Develops audience-focused messaging that translates complex programs, data, and outcomes into accessible and engaging communications. Interviews program staff, partners, and community members to identify and elevate stories that demonstrate Community Impact outcomes. Refines copy for voice, tone, clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with United Way brand standards.Digital Content, Multichannel, and Creative Systems: Produces and maintains Community Impact-related digital content, including webpages, email assets, social content, photography, short-form video, and multimedia storytelling. Updates and optimizes content to ensure information is current, accessible, visually engaging, audience-centered, and aligned across platforms. Serves as administrator and creative lead for Canva and other self-service creative tools, developing templates, maintaining brand controls, and supporting brand-compliant production. Builds and maintains an organized library of branded assets, templates, photography, and production files to improve efficiency and consistency.Project Execution, Collaboration, and Special Projects: Owns assigned creative projects from intake and concept development through drafting, design, revision, production, and final delivery. Works directly with Community Impact teams and communications colleagues to gather content, clarify objectives, recommend creative approaches, and produce materials that meet audience and program needs. Manages multiple production schedules, communicates progress and dependencies, incorporates stakeholder feedback, and maintains quality and brand consistency across deliverables. Collaborates with photographers, videographers, printers, freelancers, and other vendors as needed to complete specialized production work.EDUCATION:A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in graphic design, content creation, communications, creative production, or related fields, preferably within a nonprofit, public sector, healthcare, education, or mission-driven organization.A strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on graphic design, brand application, layout, typography, campaign creative, digital content, and finished production work across print and digital channels.Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and adapt audience-focused content across websites, email marketing, social media, presentations, collateral, impact stories, scripts, reports, and other communications.Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and proficiency with Canva required. Experience with Acrobat, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or comparable video-editing tools preferred.Strong understanding of design fundamentals, brand systems, accessibility, image preparation, file organization, print production, prepress requirements, and digital asset specifications.Proven experience producing or directing photography, videography, short-form video, and multimedia content, and collaborating with printers, photographers, videographers, freelancers, and other creative vendors.Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, messaging, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to translate complex information into clear, accurate, engaging, and audience-appropriate communications.Strong initiative and self-starter skills with the ability to independently develop creative solutions, move work from concept to completion, and balance multiple priorities and competing deadlines.Exceptional planning, organization, file-management, prioritization, and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality production.
