Job description

Med School Insiders (MSI) helps students become physicians through world-class educational resources, mentorship, and admissions consulting. With millions of followers across YouTube and social media, a trusted reputation in the premed and medical communities, and a rapidly growing services and ecommerce business, MSI is redefining what support for future doctors looks like.

About the Role

We are hiring a Marketing Manager to own the execution of the marketing function at MSI. You will be the person who turns strategy into output. We have a strategy advisor (subject matter expert) and a Google Ads technical specialist already in place. What we do not have is a single owner who runs the day-to-day, makes the calls between weekly reviews, drives the calendar, and gets the work shipped. That is this role.

The Marketing Manager owns all paid acquisition end to end, with Meta and TikTok as the primary build-out areas and Google Ads coordinated alongside our existing Google specialist. You will own the marketing calendar against MSI’s admissions seasonality, run cross-functional coordination with content, sales, video, and ecommerce, and report performance up to the COO.

This is a lean-forward, take-initiative role. We want someone who hears a half-formed strategic direction in a Monday meeting and converts it into live campaigns, briefs, and dashboards by Friday. If you prefer waiting around for assignments or routing every call up the chain, this is not the right fit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execution Ownership of Marketing Decisions
    • Convert strategic input from leadership and the strategy advisor into executed campaigns, briefs, and timelines.
    • Own the weekly marketing calendar, including admissions-seasonality alignment (Casper, Interview AI, PREview AI, MCAT, Research, Comprehensive Packages).
    • Run the standing marketing meeting cadence, drive accountability on action items, and surface blockers early.
    • Make tactical execution decisions without waiting for advisor or executive sign-off on routine work.
  • Funnel and Sales Handoff Orchestration
    • Own the post-conversion funnel mechanics: design what a lead sees after they book (confirmation flow, VSL or sales asset served on booking) so intent is captured immediately.
    • Coordinate with sales on speed-to-lead: build the timing handoff so a booked lead is contacted by the setter or sales rep while intent is hot.
    • Map and own the full path from ad click to booked call to sales contact, and close gaps between marketing and sales rather than handing off at the form.
  • Paid Ads Strategy and Execution
    • Own end-to-end paid ads across Meta (primary), TikTok (secondary), and Google (in coordination with the Google specialist who continues as the technical subject matter expert).
    • Plan, launch, manage, and optimize campaigns across all platforms, including medical student forums and niche networks.
    • Build campaign roadmaps aligned with product launches, content drops, and seasonal admissions windows.
    • Own or coordinate landing page and conversion-path design for each campaign, including message match between ad and page and basic CRO iteration.
    • Optimize targeting, creative, placements, and bidding to hit KPI goals efficiently.
  • Creative Strategy and Performance Feedback
    • Partner with content, video, and design teams to develop and refine static and video creative.
    • Brief creative needs against funnel stage, persona, and platform. Reject off-brief assets and resource the iteration.
    • Provide actionable performance feedback based on CTRs, conversions, retention, and engagement.
    • Test messaging and visual angles tailored to MSI’s diverse personas (premed, medical student, parent, residency applicant).
  • Budget Allocation and Forecasting
    • Receive a monthly or quarterly marketing budget and build platform/media allocations accordingly.
    • Forecast performance metrics (CAC, ROAS, lead volume, MQL-to-SQL) and report risks or tradeoffs in advance, not after.
    • Dynamically adjust spend based on performance trends, seasonality, and market shifts.
  • Performance Measurement and Reporting
    • Define and monitor key KPIs: CAC, ROAS, CTR, CVR, lead volume, deposit-to-close rate, revenue attribution.
    • Deliver weekly and monthly reports with insights and actionable next steps, not just dashboards.
    • Recommend strategic pivots and test initiatives based on performance data, and execute on them once approved.
  • Audience Segmentation and Retargeting
    • Develop full-funnel targeting strategies from cold traffic through post-purchase retargeting.
    • Build and refine custom and lookalike audiences based on user behavior and lifecycle segmentation.
    • Coordinate with lifecycle marketing to sync messaging across email and ads.
  • Ecommerce and CRM Attribution Integration
    • Ensure accurate attribution and clean reporting through WooCommerce and Attio CRM integrations.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot tags, pixels, and tracking across platforms using Google Tag Manager.
    • Resolve discrepancies in data pipelines and attribution logic. Own the source of truth.
  • Lifecycle and Email Coordination
    • Use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to align email automation with paid campaigns. Trainable on platform mechanics; the bar is using it effectively, not having shipped on it for years.
    • Coordinate with the lifecycle and CRM teams on campaign triggers, nurture timing, and segmented offers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Vendor Management
    • Work hand in hand with content, SEO, video, design, and sales to ensure unified messaging and shared timelines.
    • Align ad promotions with blog publishing, YouTube releases, email flows, and seasonal pushes.
    • Manage external creative, design, or media-buying contractors as needed. Source, brief, and hold accountable.
    • Coordinate directly with the strategy advisor (subject matter expert) and the Google Ads technical specialist. You are the integration point.
Tool Stack

You will be working across the following platforms:

  • Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, and niche industry ad platforms
  • WooCommerce (WordPress)
  • Kit (email automation, formerly ConvertKit)
  • Looker Studio or equivalent reporting layer
  • Notion (team planning and reporting)
  • Google Workspace
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years in performance marketing, with at least 3 years owning Meta media buying at $20K+/month in spend
  • Demonstrated TikTok Ads competence (case studies, not just exposure)
  • Track record of owning a marketing function or sub-function end to end, not just executing assigned tasks
  • Demonstrated experience connecting paid funnels to a sales motion (booking flows, VSL or call-confirmation sequences, speed-to-lead handoffs). Not a sales role, but must understand how marketing feeds and times the sales contact.
  • Experience in ecommerce attribution, CRM integrations, and lifecycle ad flows
  • Clear written and verbal communicator who can run cross-functional meetings and brief creative
  • Comfortable working across time zones with US-based leadership; strong written async communication
  • Self-starter who takes ownership, drives progress, and thrives on autonomy
  • Native or fully fluent English
Qualifications
  • Background in education, edtech, test prep, or admissions services
  • Familiarity with student and parent customer journeys (premed, medical student, residency applicant)
  • Experience working alongside a strategy advisor or fractional CMO (managing up to strategy, down to execution)
  • Direct experience with Kit (formerly ConvertKit) or comparable lifecycle ESP
  • Comfort managing a Google Ads specialist as a peer subject matter expert rather than a direct report
Why Work with Us?
  • Agile, remote-first team with low bureaucracy and high autonomy
  • Direct access to the CEO with real influence on growth
  • A space to own and scale a performance marketing function with the strategic guidance of a seasoned advisor and the technical depth of an existing Google Ads specialist
  • Revenue is materially ahead of plan; this role steps into a function with budget, runway, and momentum
