Job summary

United Way of Southeast Missouri is seeking a part-time Marketing & Events Coordinator to manage special events and serve as the on-site marketing representative. The role is based on-site in Cape Girardeau, MO, working with the Executive Director and Marketing & Communications Specialist to coordinate logistics, marketing plans, photography, videography, and donor relations.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 2 years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience coordinating events or community engagement activities preferred.
  • Experience with photography and videography preferred.
  • Proficiency with Canva and Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and transport event materials (up to 50lbs assisted) and assist with event setup.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising and community events, including Campaign Kickoff, Golf Tournament, Day of Giving, Get on the Bus Tours, volunteer activities, and other events.
  • Coordinate vendors, venues, event materials, registration, signage, volunteers, and setup/teardown.
  • Assist with event budgets and timelines.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance attendee experience and community engagement.
  • Implement marketing plans by scheduling event-related social media content and coordinating emails.
  • Maintain event registration pages & contact lists; draft event news releases.
  • Prepare promotional materials, signage, and event collateral; coordinate sponsor recognition.
  • Serve as the primary photographer and videographer for events; edit photos/videos for marketing.
  • Build relationships with donors, volunteers, workplace partners, and the community.
  • Assist with workplace campaign kickoffs and presentations; staff informational booths.
  • Support donor stewardship activities with thank-you cards and recognition.

Position Summary

The Marketing & Events Coordinator is a part-time (25 hours per week) position that coordinates United Way of Southeast Missouri's special events and serves as the organization's primary on-site marketing representative. Working under the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Specialist, this position coordinates event logistics, executes event marketing plans, captures photography and videography, and strengthens relationships with donors, volunteers, workplace partners, and the community. This is an on-site role located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Event Planning & Coordination
  • Coordinate logistics for United Way fundraising and community events, including Campaign Kickoff, Golf Tournament, Day of Giving, Get on the Bus Tours, volunteer activities, and other events.
  • Coordinate vendors, venues, event materials, registration, signage, volunteers, and event setup and teardown.
  • Assist with event budgets and timelines.

Event Marketing Execution

Implement marketing plans developed in collaboration with the Executive Director and Marketing & Communications Specialist by:

  • Scheduling event-related social media content.
  • Coordinating event email communications.
  • Maintaining event registration pages & contact lists.
  • Drafting event news releases for review and approval.
  • Preparing promotional materials, signage, and event collateral.
  • Coordinating sponsor recognition and event marketing materials.
Photography & Videography
  • Serve as the primary photographer and videographer for organizational events and community activities.
  • Capture photos and video highlighting United Way's impact.
  • Edit photos and videos for use across marketing platforms.
  • Maintain an organized digital photo and video library.
  • Identify compelling stories and content opportunities from events and partner visits.
Community Engagement
  • Represent United Way at community events, workplace campaigns, partner visits, and public outreach opportunities.
  • Assist with workplace campaign kickoffs and presentations.
  • Set up and staff informational booths and community displays.
  • Assist with donor stewardship activities, including thank-you cards and recognition efforts.
  • Build positive relationships with community partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters.
Marketing Support
  • Assist with graphic design projects as needed.
  • Prepare marketing materials for events and outreach activities.
  • Coordinate inventory of promotional items, banners, displays, and event supplies.
  • Assist the Marketing & Communications Specialist with collecting stories, photos, testimonials, and other content for organizational marketing campaigns.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, Public Relations, or related field, or 2 years of equivalent experience.
