Position: Marketing & Communications Specialist
Location: Northern Virginia, VA (REMOTE)
Position Summary:
The Marketing & Communications Specialist plays a vital role in shaping the Firm’s public presence and strategic messaging. This position will report to the Chief Marketing Officer. This individual is responsible for developing and executing marketing plans, overseeing brand initiatives, and producing targeted communications across digital and traditional platforms. This role is central to ensuring consistent and impactful visibility for the Firm across various audiences and channels.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate regularly with attorneys and marketing colleagues to refine messaging, brainstorm new promotional opportunities, and stay current with sector-specific developments relevant to the Firm’s focus.
- Support the rollout of strategic campaigns, firm-hosted programs, and branding activities.
- Write and edit a range of content including attorney bios, media announcements, award submissions, newsletters, website copy, advertising materials, and client communications.
- Plan, produce, and schedule content across all social media accounts, while encouraging internal engagement with online efforts.
- Provide assistance with client-facing proposals and presentations, ensuring professional formatting and cohesive messaging.
- Monitor and update marketing assets to ensure that all content accurately reflects the Firm’s capabilities and services.
- Oversee day-to-day updates to the Firm's website, ensuring information is current, user-friendly, and accurately represents the brand.
- Maintain the Firm’s marketing database, managing distribution lists for campaigns and client outreach.
- Drive the Firm’s awards and recognitions strategy, including tracking deadlines, managing submissions, and coordinating follow-up communications and profile updates.
- Lead content development for thought leadership initiatives from idea to distribution, including managing third-party publishing platforms like JD Supra.
- Coordinate external speaking engagements, events, webinars, and conferences, ensuring successful execution and brand alignment.
- Organize internal marketing meetings and initiatives, occasionally leading planning or facilitation efforts.
- Design visual content for use in online promotions, internal presentations, and campaign materials in line with brand standards.
- Act as a primary contact for attorneys needing marketing assistance, working both independently and in consultation with the broader team.
- Manage marketing onboarding for new hires, including materials like bios, photographs, and branded collateral.
- Step in to support fellow marketing colleagues during high-volume periods or absences.
- Perform special projects or additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and client service excellence.
- Capable of building and sustaining professional relationships with senior legal professionals.
- Strong written and spoken communication abilities, editing proficiency, presentation experience, and online research fluency.
- Knowledge of CRM and CMS tools and comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-heavy environment.
- Able to review analytics and extract meaningful insights to guide strategic decisions.
- Independent thinker with a collaborative spirit and proven ability to manage both individual tasks and team projects.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a marketing role within professional services, preferably with experience in a legal setting.
- Background in managing projects or leading marketing initiatives is preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiar with platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
Remote Work Requirements:
This position is fully remote, with periodic meetings in the firms Virginia office (Candidates required to be able to commute, or within 50 miles from the office). The Firm provides all necessary technology, including a laptop, monitor, licensed software, and ergonomic equipment as needed. While resources are provided, employees are responsible for ensuring their home office setup meets the standards for effective remote work.
