Job summary

I Care San Antonio is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to strengthen our brand, expand reach, and engage supporters as we grow to serve communities through faith-based initiatives.

You will craft stories about program impact, develop marketing collateral, manage newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and website updates, and support fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Development Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit outreach, or related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and proofreading skills.

Job description

As the Marketing & Communications Coordinator, you will help strengthen the organization’s brand, expand its reach, engage supporters, and connect our work to the people and communities we serve. As a faith-based, mission-driven organization dedicated to restoring sight and transforming lives, the work has a direct and tangible impact on the community. As I Care San Antonio continues to grow, this position offers a hands‑on opportunity to shape the communication with donors, partners, volunteers, community members, and the broader public.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Marketing & Communications Strategy
  • Support and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Maintain consistent messaging, voice, visual identity, and brand standards across communications channels.
  • Track marketing and communications performance and use data and audience insights to refine plan.
2. Content Creation & Storytelling
  • Write, edit, and proofread compelling content for newsletters, donor communications, annual reports, presentations, print materials, and other organizational communications.
  • Help develop stories that highlight program impact, client and community experiences, organizational milestones, and opportunities for engagement.
  • Create and update marketing collateral, including flyers, brochures, presentations, social media graphics, and other digital assets.
  • Coordinate photography, video, and other visual storytelling needs as appropriate.
  • Support and grow the organization’s social media presence across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Help maintain and execute a social media content calendar.
  • Monitor engagement, reach, and other relevant analytics and adjust content and strategy based on performance.
4. Website & Email Communications
  • Maintain and regularly update website content to ensure information is accurate, timely, engaging, and accessible.
  • Draft, format, and distribute email campaigns and organizational newsletters.
  • Assist with maintaining email lists, segmentation, and basic performance reporting.
  • Help ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and user experience across the website and email communications.
  • Support donor communications in partnership with the Development Director.
  • Help create compelling communications that demonstrate impact, express gratitude, and strengthen donor relationships.
  • Support fundraising campaigns through messaging, digital content, email, social media, and other promotional materials.
  • Help ensure fundraising communications are consistent with the organization’s overall voice, brand, and mission.
6. Media, Events & Community Engagement
  • Assist with preparing press releases, media materials, talking points, and other communications as needed.
  • Support relationships with community partners and other external stakeholders through effective communication and storytelling.Equip and engage board members to participate effectively in fundraising and stewardship.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and tasks, as needed, to support the organization’s mission and operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field required.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit outreach, or a related field. Nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
  • Writing & Storytelling: Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms.
  • Digital Marketing: Familiarity with managing social media, email marketing, websites, and digital communications.
  • Design: Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design platforms.
  • Technology: Comfortable learning and using email marketing platforms, content management systems, social media tools, and other digital platforms.
  • Learning Mindset: Willingness to learn new tools, platforms, and marketing and communications practices.

Working Conditions:

Full-time position with occasional evening or weekend commitments.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 plus benefits package to include health insurance, in-house vision care, dental stipend, Simple IRA match (after one-year waiting period), a generous PTO package, and the potential for an annual bonus.
