Job summary

Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in New York seeks a Marketing and Business Development Coordinator to support the firm's practice marketing strategies, coordinate projects and operations, and deliver high‑quality marketing and business development support to attorneys.

The role requires collaboration with multiple teams, event coordination, budgeting, reporting, and the use of AI tools to improve efficiency, with a hybrid on-site/remote schedule (KattenFlex) and two days on site weekly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field; 2–3 years of marketing, business development or communications experience, preferably in a legal or other professional services environment
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across teams and provide outstanding internal client service
  • Excellent organizational, project management and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Support Marketing and Business Development Managers (MBDMs) in the execution of practice-specific marketing and business development strategies, including Go-to-Market plans and other strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate closely with Marketing & Communications, Events, Public Relations, Business Development, Pitches & Proposals, Client Intelligence, and other MBD functional teams to execute integrated marketing and business development initiatives
  • Support the planning and execution of client events, conferences, sponsorships, speaking engagements and other business development activities, including fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and post-event follow-up
  • Assist with the development, maintenance and distribution of marketing collateral, attorney biographies, website content, LinkedIn share packages, thought leadership promotions and other marketing materials
  • Support awards, rankings, directory and league table submissions by gathering information, coordinating with attorneys and collaborating with the Public Relations team, as appropriate
  • Assist with practice marketing budget administration, including budget tracking, expense reconciliation and reporting
  • Prepare reports, dashboards and success metrics related to marketing and business development activities
  • Develop, organize and maintain departmental process documentation, templates, shared resources and team files to promote consistency, knowledge sharing and operational efficiency
  • Utilize firm-approved AI tools, including Harvey and Microsoft Copilot, to improve efficiency while exercising sound judgment and validating all outputs for accuracy, quality and compliance with firm standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve team processes through technology, automation and standardized workflows
  • Provide project coordination and administrative support to the Practice Support team, including scheduling meetings, tracking deadlines, conducting research, maintaining project trackers and supporting special projects as assigned

Marketing and Business Development Coordinator

As a member of the MBD Practice Support team, this position works closely with the firm's Marketing and Business Development Managers (MBDMs) to execute practice marketing strategies, coordinate projects and operations, and deliver high-quality marketing and business development support to attorneys. The Practice Support team partners closely with other MBD functional teams—including Business Development, Pitches & Proposals, Client Intelligence, Public Relations, Marketing & Communications, and Events—to ensure a coordinated approach to serving the firm's practices. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include supporting marketing and business development initiatives, coordinating events and sponsorships, maintaining marketing materials and departmental resources, tracking budgets and marketing activity, preparing reports and dashboards, supporting awards and directory submissions, leveraging technology and AI tools to improve efficiency, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Practice Support team's operations and processes.

The Marketing and Business Development Coordinator will be located in the New York office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex). This position requires (2) two days onsite a week.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Self-motivated, adaptable and resourceful, with sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to organize, analyze and report on data.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies, including firm-approved AI tools such as Harvey and Microsoft Copilot, and applying them to improve efficiency and business processes; Experience with Salesforce and Monday.com or other project management platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute marketing materials, written documentation or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

In our New York office, the annualized salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000.

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
