SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

C.D. Smith Construction is seeking a Market Leader for the Milwaukee area. The Milwaukee Market Leader serves as the primary representative of C.D. Smith Construction within the Milwaukee area. This role is responsible for building strong relationships, expanding market presence, and connecting local opportunities to the company's broader strategic growth objectives.

The Market Leader works closely with daily operations in the Milwaukee office, supports local staff, ensures adherence to company policies and workflows, and acts as the onsite point of contact for leadership, business development, operations, clients, and internal support teams.

The C.D. Smith Milwaukee office is an active operations location at 8325 W. Tower Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202. This role is based out of the Milwaukee office, and due to the level of onsite involvement required, the employee should reside within 35 miles of downtown Milwaukee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Strategic vision: Help analyze and define long‑term office and market strategy for business development, operations, talent and community involvement.
  • Acquisition & feasibility: Support the sourcing of new projects and conduct thorough financial analysis, including pro‑forma modeling and risk assessments to determine project viability.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPI's): Responsible for regional KPIs, such as Business Development backlog, Key Project updates, Talent review, Major expenditures/budgets.
  • Team Building: Lead and support the Milwaukee team to maintain a productive, collaborative office environment.
  • Project Pursuits: Participate in specific project pursuits in the office region.
  • Community Stakeholder: Engage in Milwaukeearea community events to strengthen the C.D. Smith brand, build relationships, support goodwill, and foster potential business opportunities.
  • Operational leadership: Functional roles will continue reporting to their respective functional leaders; however, this role will work in close coordination with those leaders to mentor regional team members, support functional and regional goals, and drive accountability across the Milwaukee team.
  • Yard Operations: The Milwaukee office includes a Yard Operations component; however, this responsibility remains with the FDL Yard Operations team in coordination with Field Operations and is not part of this role.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (preferred; not required).
  • 8+ years of experience in construction and/or general contracting, including project management and work with cross functional teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Construction administration: Demonstrated involvement in project management and/or construction services, with the ability to support strong execution and oversight.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to interpret market data and demographic trends and translate insights into viable pursuit and development strategies.
  • Financial acumen: Comfort with budgeting, pro formas, and basic risk/return evaluation to support go/no-go decisions.
  • Communication & influence: Ability to engage clients and partners, align internal team members, and communicate clearly across various audiences.
  • Organization: Skilled at managing multiple projects, high-value pursuits with disciplined planning and follow‑through.
