Job summary

Hy-Vee Market Grille is hiring a Clerk to provide prompt, friendly customer service at the Market Grille counter, take orders, and ensure fresh, safe food. You will work as part of a team in a fast-paced store kitchen environment.

No formal education is required, and we provide training; six months or less of related experience is acceptable, with food service experience a plus. This on-site role supports daily operations and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus.
• No education requirement; we will provide all the training you need to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one.
• Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
• Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary
• Price and order product and deliver orders as needed
• Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy‑Vee policies and store guidelines
• Report to work when scheduled and on time
