Job summary

MISO is seeking a data- and economics-driven analyst to evaluate the health of its wholesale electricity markets. You will analyze market operations, system performance, and participant behavior, developing insights to improve reliability and efficiency across the grid.

The role emphasizes data collection, visualization, and process automation, with a base salary range of $71,000-$96,000 and annual bonus eligibility. This on-site position supports the Central U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical And Computer Engineering, Electrical And Electronic Engineering, or Electronics And Computer Engineering Technology (required).
• 1-2 years of relevant work experience preferred (preferred).
• Experience or exposure in energy market forecasting and analysis, power system analysis and operations, software development, data science, statistical or econometric analysis, market design, or optimization algorithms (preferred).
• Working knowledge of data analysis and programming tools such as Python, Power BI, and Azure (preferred).
• Experience with power engineering or market simulation tools such as PowerGEM or PLEXOS is preferred, but not required (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and report on the overall health of MISO's markets, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and market outcomes.
• Perform engineering, statistical, and economic analyses of market and system operations, market products, Market Participant behaviors, and market outcomes.
• Develop understanding of MISO's market systems and how they fit together.
• Assess market health, provide timely reporting on events, and validate outcomes align with design requirements.
• Identify data patterns, trends, and potential concerns; use visualization tools to communicate findings.
• Help streamline and automate analytical processes and improve market performance.
