Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. seeks a Civil Maritime Licensing/Regulatory Lead to drive licensing strategy for floating nuclear plants and maritime reactor programs.

You will lead regulatory engagements, work with engineering, and coordinate plans across NRC/DOE/DOD frameworks. On-site in Lynchburg, VA or remote, the role requires seven years of nuclear licensing experience, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain security clearances with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (nuclear, mechanical, civil, marine, or environmental) required.
• Minimum seven years in nuclear licensing/regulatory matters within a U.S. framework (NRC, DOE, or DoD) required.
• Must serve as a subject-matter lead, guiding teams through complex regulatory/licensing processes.
• Must have experience in design, evaluation, and development of nuclear systems.
• Must communicate clearly, concisely, accurately, and timely in written and verbal formats.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain DOE/DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement project licensing plans for development and delivery of FNPPs and civil nuclear-electric propulsion applications, focused on U.S. regulatory framework.
• Plan, coordinate, and support licensing deliverables and regulatory engagement and review documents.
• Develop regulatory strategies to address key technical and programmatic issues for maritime reactor development.
• Lead the development and defense of the licensing basis for reactor technologies and customer projects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop technical design bases and integrate regulatory requirements.
• Support the creation of testing programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead regulatory discussions on technical and programmatic issues in line with program plans.
• Work with project management to develop budgets and schedules achieving regulatory outcomes.
• Facilitate communication with internal/external stakeholders including maritime authorities and classification societies.
