Quartermaster is building a real-time picture of the world’s oceans through a global fleet of SmartMast sensors. We are seeking a senior Fleet Reliability Engineer to own hardware health, uptime, and long-term reliability across deployed units, turning telemetry into proactive action and driving RCAs and CAPA closures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Reliability, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with deployed electro-mechanical hardware.
  • Ownership of hardware reliability outcomes for a fleet or installed base.
  • Hands-on proficiency with root-cause analysis methods (8D, 5-Whys, fishbone).
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically for field work.

Responsibilities

  • Own fleet-wide reliability metrics (uptime, MTBF, MTTR) and report to leadership.
  • Lead root-cause analysis on field failures and drive CAPA actions.
  • Define preventive maintenance schedules and RMA/repair workflows for global fleet.
  • Develop and scale reliability processes, including design-for-reliability feedback to hardware teams.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing to close loop on failures.
  • Support field deployments and complex repairs at vessels and installation sites.
