Job summary

Quartermaster AI in Arlington, TX is seeking a Fleet Reliability Engineer to own health and uptime of our SmartMast hardware fleet. You will monitor units online, diagnose failures, and drive improvements with hardware, firmware, and field teams.

This senior role requires hands-on expertise in electro-mechanical systems, telemetry analysis with SQL/Python, and travel to vessels and installation sites. You will build scalable reliability processes as the fleet grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Reliability, or related engineering.
• 5+ years in engineering with deployed electro-mechanical hardware, including reliability/field engineering.
• Ownership of hardware reliability outcomes for fleet or installed base.
• Hands-on root-cause analysis methods (8D, 5-Whys, fishbone) and reliability tools (FMEA, CAPA).
• Telemetry/logs analysis and diagnosing electro-mechanical systems.
• Data fluency: SQL and Python for fleet telemetry analysis.
• Willingness to travel to field sites, including international travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Own fleet-wide reliability metrics (uptime, MTBF, MTTR, data-yield) and report to engineering/leadership.
• Build dashboards, alerts, and telemetry pipelines to surface degrading units before offline.
• Lead root-cause analysis on field failures and drive CAPA to closure.
• Define preventive maintenance schedules and RMA/repair processes for global fleet.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing to implement reliability improvements.
• Support field deployments and periodic travel to vessels and installation sites.
• Scale reliability processes as fleet grows from hundreds to thousands of units.
