Job summary

Nauticus is seeking a Maritime Center Specialist II (Education) to lead public and formal/informal education programs at Nauticus’ campus and around the region. The role emphasizes strong public speaking, engaging with diverse audiences, and adapting to changing program needs.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent with museum/visitor experience; some college is preferred. Weekday, weekend, and holiday scheduling with a 20-hour weekly expectation is noted.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; considerable museum/visitor attraction experience.
• Strong public speaking and engagement with diverse audiences.
• Willingness to work year-round, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct public presentations for school groups on/offsite.
• Engage with museum guests through formal programming and informal interactions.
• Collaborate with educators to develop, create, and execute programs.
• Assist with promotion and execution of education programs and events.
• Present STEM and history programs to diverse audiences, including school groups, family groups, special youth groups, teachers, and the public including setup for programs, events, and activities.
• Perform interactive education programs including floor programs, workshops, summer camp and special events.
• Assist guests with special needs, questions, or complaints in a courteous and responsible manner.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the public.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, life from ground to above shoulder, climb, bend, stoop, sit, push, pull, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Other duties as assigned.
