Job summary

Project Oceanology in Groton, CT is seeking a part-time Marine Science Educator to deliver engaging marine science and environmental education for K-12, college students, summer campers and the public. The role includes teaching aboard vessels, at shore locations, and in classrooms with flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

The educator will expand programs, integrate activities into school curricula, and maintain aquaria.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Marine Science and broad interest in oceans
• Aptitude for educating others; ability to manage groups of varying ages
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; basic Spanish is a plus
• Able to engage students and public enthusiastically; team player and leader

Responsibilities

• Present oceanographic content and research techniques to a wide audience
• Develop and modify activities aligned with curricula and program needs
• Deliver programs aboard vessels, shoreline, labs, and classrooms
• Maintain safety and supervise students; ensure engaging learning environments
• Provide after-school programs and coordinate with staff to tailor lessons
