Job summary

Teichman Group, LLC, is seeking a Welder and Fabricator in Galveston, TX. In our metal shop you will design, cut and shape aluminum, carbon and stainless steel to fabricate shipping containers, pumps, dredges, vessels and cranes.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 3+ years welding experience, plus certification or vocational training. Proficiency with Mig, Tig, flux-core and stick welding, blueprints and safety procedures is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience. Welding Certification or vocational degree required.
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required as a continuing condition of employment.
• Must be able to meet all physical qualifications per company guidelines.
• Must have Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or obtain one.
• Must be able to speak, read and write in the English Language.
• Must have basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge and experience with Mig, Tig, flux-core and stick welding.
• Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications.
• Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment including heavy machinery and forklift.
• Will be required to complete confined space entry (CSE) and 40 Hour OSHA Training.
• Knowledge of industry safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, measuring tapes.
• Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
• Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
• Operate welding equipment, grinding and cutting equipment.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
• Construct patterns, templates, or other work aids.
• Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
