Job summary

Southwest Shipyard, LP seeks a Pipe Welder to fabricate, install, and repair piping systems on marine vessels. You will read blueprints, weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel using TIG, MIG, and stick methods, often in confined spaces and at heights.

The role requires precise welds, adherence to safety codes, and the ability to work from detailed work orders, with day shifts and potential overtime in Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SMAW and FCAW welding techniques.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting and layout.
• Familiarity with OSHA/ASME safety standards.
• Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble, and install piping systems on ships according to detailed specifications.
• Perform SMAW and FCAW welding to join pipes with precision.
• Inspect welds for defects and ensure codes compliance.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE.
• Interpret blueprints and technical documents to plan tasks.
