Job summary

A leading marine service provider in Lettsworth, LA is seeking a skilled Vessel Mechanic. The candidate will ensure machinery and equipment maintenance on inland line and fleet boats while minimizing downtime and optimizing efficiency. Essential responsibilities include recording engineering logs, conducting repairs, and effective communication with the Port Engineer. Must have a high school diploma and a TWIC, along with strong self-motivation and detail orientation. The role requires physical stamina, including lifting and working in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC.
• General knowledge of marine equipment, engines, and boat systems is preferred.
• MUST be self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented.
• Communicate well in both written & verbal form.
• Capable of managing time effectively & multi-tasking as necessary.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be able to work various hours/holidays/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Record and maintain engineering logs.
• Carryout services and minor repairs on vessels and equipment.
• Communicate concerns to the Port Engineer and Captain.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
