Job summary

Skier’s Marine is seeking a Marine Technician to join our Smith Lake team. You will perform high-quality maintenance and repair work on inboards, I/O’s and outboards, ensuring boats leave the shop lake-ready.

The role requires 2+ years in marine or automotive service, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Responsibilities include diagnostic work, maintenance, installations (fuel system, engine/outdrive R&R, stereo, jack plates, and tower), lake testing, and recording

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Boating experience and a valid boater’s license preferred.
• 2+ years in marine or automotive service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair inboards, I/O’s and outboards both in shop and on water.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, winterizations and summerizations.
• Complete repairs and installations (fuel system cleaning, engine/outdrive R&R, stereo, jack plates, tower).
• Lake test boats to verify function and repairs; communicate progress to Service Coordinator.
• Maintain accurate time/records and keep workspace clean and safe.
• Attend manufacturer/service training annually to maintain certifications.

Position Summary

The Marine Technician delivers an exceptional service experience for all customers by performing high-quality maintenance and repair work at a fair price, while adhering to customer time frames. This position plays a key role in ensuring that every boat leaving our shop is lake-ready and performing at its best.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Diagnose, service, and repair inboards, I/O’s, and outboards both in the shop and on the water
• Perform scheduled maintenance, pre-delivery inspections, winterizations, and summerizations
• Complete repairs and installations such as:
  • Fuel system cleaning
  • Engine and outdrive R&R
  • Custom stereo, jack plates, and tower installations
• Lake test boats to verify functionality, diagnose issues, and confirm successful repairs
• Communicate effectively with the Service Coordinator regarding diagnostics, parts needs, and repair progress
• Maintain accurate time and service records
• Keep work area and tools clean, organized, and in proper working condition
• Assist with boat show preparation and move-in as needed
• Attend manufacturer and service training annually to maintain certifications

Experience and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
• Boating experience and a valid boater’s license are
• 2+ years of experience in marine or automotive service
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a customer-first attitude.
