Job summary

Parks Marina, Inc is seeking a dependable and skilled Marine Service Technician to join our service team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing boats, engines, trailers, and related marine systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with 12-volt electrical systems, and the ability to read wiring diagrams. We offer competitive pay based on experience and opportunities for certification training.

Qualifications

  • Prior marine, powersports, automotive, diesel, or small-engine repair experience preferred.
  • Marine manufacturer certifications preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems and ability to read wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a service team.
  • Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver boats safely preferred.
  • Willingness to complete additional training and manufacturer certification programs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair outboard, inboard, and sterndrive engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tune-ups, impeller replacement, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot marine electrical, ignition, fuel, cooling, steering, and control systems.
  • Install and repair batteries, electronics, gauges, accessories, trolling motors, and other components.
  • Perform boat rigging, engine installation, and accessory installation as assigned.
  • Inspect and repair boat trailers including bearings, brakes, wiring, lights, tires, and winches.
  • Prepare boats for seasonal use, storage, winterization, and spring commissioning.
  • Conduct water tests and operational inspections when necessary.
  • Document diagnostic findings, repairs performed, parts used, and labor time.
  • Communicate additional repair needs and parts requirements to service advisor or service manager.
  • Follow manufacturer procedures, dealership standards, and warranty requirements.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Must provide the necessary tools needed to perform duties.
  • Assist with launching, loading, moving, and securing boats when needed.
  • Complete repairs correctly and efficiently while meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Participate in manufacturer training and continuing technical education.
  • Perform other service department duties as assigned.

  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment, lifts, trailers, and marina vehicles.
  • Overtime required during Memorial Day through Labor Day
