The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with modern diagnostic software, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship to ensure our customers have a safe and reliable experience on the water.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Utilize computer diagnostic software, specialized tools, and mechanical expertise to identify engine, electrical, and fuel system issues in modern outboard motors (e.g., Mercury, Yamaha, & Honda).
  • Maintenance & Servicing: Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, gear lube replacements, spark plug changes, water pump replacements, and seasonal winterization/summarization.
  • Repairs & Overhauls: Execute complex mechanical repairs, ranging from component replacements (starters, alternators, trim motors) to complete engine tear-downs and rebuilds.
  • Rigging & Installation: Install new outboard engines, steering systems (hydraulic and electronic), gauges, throttle controls, and marine electronics (GPS, fishfinders, trolling motors).
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and perform on-water tests to verify that repairs and installations meet safety and performance standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed records of all services performed, parts used, and labor hours on repair orders.
  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with the Service Manager and, when necessary, directly with customers to explain technical issues, repair options, and estimated timelines.
  • Shop Maintenance: Keep the service area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in safe working condition.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience as a marine technician, specifically working with outboard engines.
  • Certifications: Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Mercury, Yamaha Honda) are highly preferred. Graduation from a recognized marine mechanic training program (such as MMI) is a strong plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 12-volt marine electrical systems, fuel injection systems, and marine plumbing. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
