Job summary

NV5, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician for marine field and lab tasks in California, including diving in San Diego and South Lake Tahoe. The role requires Open Water Diver certification and the ability to perform demanding fieldwork outdoors.

You will support projects with data management, equipment handling, and coordination under a Project Manager, with a focus on timely delivery and safety. Applicants with altitude/cold-water diving experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Open Water Diver certification is required.
• DAN membership and DAN master insurance coverage.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting (50+ pounds) and strenuous outdoor fieldwork.
• Experience as a diver in altitude and cold water environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and lab tasks with minimal supervision to meet timelines and budgets.
• Diving and topside support for projects in San Diego and South Lake Tahoe.
• Organize, load and unload equipment for field work projects.
• Lab work on benthic infauna samples with data entry and QA/QC tasks.
• Drive a boat and trailer for field assignments when needed.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safety and data quality.
• Meet deadlines and seek process improvements.
• Support Project Manager as needed.
