Job summary

Elite Workforce LLC seeks an experienced Marine Shipyard Foreman to oversee daily shipyard operations, supervise skilled trades personnel, and ensure all marine repair, maintenance, and construction activities meet customer specs and safety standards.

Ideal candidate will have extensive shipyard welding and fitting experience, dry-dock expertise, and strong leadership and communication skills to drive on-time, on-budget project execution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a marine shipyard environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in marine welding and fitting operations.
  • Strong understanding of ship repair, vessel maintenance, and marine fabrication processes.
  • Experience operating and coordinating dry-dock activities.
  • Thorough knowledge of shipyard equipment and facility operations.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and operational failures.
  • Extensive knowledge of shipyard safety practices, OSHA regulations, and marine industry safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise daily activities of shipyard personnel, including welders, fitters, mechanics, machinists, and labor crews.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor work schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee vessel repair, maintenance, fabrication, and construction projects.
  • Manage and coordinate dry-dock operations, including vessel positioning, blocking, launching, and related activities.
  • Ensure proper operation, inspection, and maintenance of shipyard equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and operational failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Review work quality and ensure compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce all shipyard safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and site inspections.
  • Coordinate with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and shipyard management to ensure effective communication and project execution.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate employees while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to projects, safety, personnel, and equipment.

Elite Workforce LLC is seeking an experienced Marine Shipyard Foreman to oversee daily shipyard operations, supervise skilled trades personnel, and ensure all marine repair, maintenance, and construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer specifications. The ideal candidate will possess extensive shipyard experience with a strong background in marine welding, fitting, dry-dock operations, equipment management, and shipyard safety.

Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities

  • Skilled Outside Machinist with experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and alignment of marine mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and operational failures.
  • Extensive knowledge of shipyard safety practices, OSHA regulations, and marine industry safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple ship repair projects simultaneously.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent safety training.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of Coast Guard, ABS, and other applicable maritime regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in outdoor marine environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and access vessel compartments.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding duties as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
