Job summary

Birdon Group in Bellingham, WA is seeking a Marine Service Tech to lead troubleshooting and repair of propulsion and vessel systems. You will perform dockside and underway testing, review schematics and records, and coordinate with teams to resolve issues.

The role requires strong electrical and deck experience, with a 100T captain’s license preferred where applicable, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Full-time position with on-site duties and competitive hourly pay.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced troubleshooting and repair of propulsion, diesel, gas, electrical, auxiliary, navigation, steering, and vessel control systems.
• Support or conduct dockside, underway, operational, and acceptance testing activities.
• Review technical documentation, drawings, manuals, test procedures, and service records for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with production, quality, engineering, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to resolve technical issues.
• Operate assigned equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, crane and travel lift when trained and authorized.
• Mentor lower-level technicians and help verify workmanship, safety compliance, and task completion.
• Support labour, material, and schedule planning by identifying risks, constraints, and corrective actions.
• Lead boat hauling and launch operations to include pressure washing, blocking for storage and mooring.

Salary Range: $31.66 To $34.55 Hourly

• WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
  • Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to strand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.
