  • Perform winterization and spring commissioning of engines and ship systems.

Job description

The Mechanic/Marine Technician’s responsibilities include performing the duties listed below on a regular basis and meeting customer satisfaction standards, as well as company sales and safety requirements. This position requires the team member to work 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Seasonal schedule changes may occur at management discretion.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of marine gasoline and diesel engines, from maintenance to complete overhaul
  • Repair/rebuild gearsets, transmissions and sterndrives
  • Repair propulsion components such as transmissions, sail drives, stern drives, etc.
  • Diagnose and repair 110V gensets, 12V and battery bank systems
  • Perform winterization and spring commissioning of engines and ships systems
  • Install mechanical equipment such as new engines, air conditioning systems, pumps, anchor windlass, and others as assigned
  • Perform mechanical repairs on boat equipment including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, engine controls, pumps, etc.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and problem‑solving skills and abilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • 4 years of experience in the performance of mechanical repair and installation
    • Apprentice program offered outside of this qualification
  • Ability to speak and read English and understand electrical wiring diagrams
  • Ability to use test instruments
  • Must provide personal mechanical tools and test equipment
    • Apprentices may use tool crib facilities
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job (see below)
  • Must be able to complete assigned work efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Strong work ethic and personal commitment
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
  • Ability to work independently as a self‑starter
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to work comfortably around water
  • Ability to work in tight spaces
  • Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet
