Job summary

Seattle Yachts is seeking a Marine Service Foreman to lead the Service team in Anacortes. This role directs Marine Electricians, Inboard/Outboard Mechanics, and Outfitters, coordinating daily priorities, staffing, and workflow while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will provide technical oversight, review diagnostic approaches, and ensure complete work is inspected and documented before release. Enthusiasm for mentoring staff and maintaining customer commitments is essential.

Responsibilities

Overview

The Marine Service Foreman is the day-to-day technical supervisor for the Seattle Yachts Service team. This position directs and coordinates the work of Marine Electricians, Marine Inboard Mechanics, Marine Outboard Mechanics, Marine Outfitters, and other Service technicians; monitors job progress and productivity; provides technical oversight; inspects completed work; and holds the team accountable for quality, safety, efficiency, and professional standards. This is a pure Foreman position: the Foreman is not assigned regular production repair work and is not expected to function as another technician.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct the day-to-day work of Service technicians across electrical, inboard mechanical, outboard mechanical, outfitting, and related marine service disciplines
• Review open work orders and establish daily priorities, technician assignments, sequencing, and workflow based on skill, workload, safety, parts availability, and customer commitments
• Conduct regular shop, yard, dock, and vessel walk-throughs to monitor work in progress, identify roadblocks, verify appropriate staffing, and keep jobs moving toward completion
• Monitor job status, labor hours, productivity, and expected completion dates; identify delays or scope changes early and communicate them promptly to Service leadership
• Provide technical oversight and guidance when technicians encounter difficult electrical, mechanical, propulsion, or onboard-systems problems without becoming the assigned production technician
• Review diagnostic approaches, technical information, schematics, manufacturer guidance, and repair plans as needed to help technicians resolve complex issues efficiently
• Inspect completed repairs and installations for workmanship, safety, completeness, and compliance with applicable manufacturer, company, and marine-industry standards before work is released
• Ensure appropriate operational testing, sea trials, commissioning checks, and final verification are completed and documented by the technician responsible
• Review technician work-order notes and supporting documentation for accuracy, clarity, parts usage, labor information, findings, and recommended additional work
• Coordinate technical escalations with manufacturers, dealers, vendors, and technical representatives when additional expertise, warranty support, or specialized information is required
• Coach and mentor technicians, reinforce consistent repair practices, identify training needs, and provide timely performance feedback to Service leadership
• Set clear expectations for workmanship, efficiency, communication, assigned work, housekeeping, tool control, safety, and professional conduct within the Service team
• Escalate recurring performance, quality, safety, scheduling, or resource issues to Service leadership and participate in corrective planning as requested

Technical Qualifications

• Extensive technical knowledge of marine electrical and mechanical systems sufficient to evaluate diagnostic approaches, repair plans, workmanship, and completed repairs
• Strong working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, battery and charging systems, generators, inverters, wiring, grounding/bonding, and safe electrical diagnostic practices
• Strong working knowledge of marine engines, fuel and cooling systems, steering, drivetrains/propulsion, and associated mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, service manuals, technical bulletins, and manufacturer documentation
• Experience with diesel and gasoline marine engines and manufacturer-specific diagnostic platforms is highly desirable

• Use sound judgment when balancing safety, repair quality, technician capability, workload, efficiency, and customer commitments
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with technicians, managers, vendors, manufacturers, and customer-facing staff when technical involvement is needed
• Maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach when resolving technical roadblocks, performance concerns, scheduling conflicts, or changing priorities
• Protect customer vessels, company property, tools, and Seattle Yachts' reputation

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Qualifications

• Substantial professional experience in marine service or a comparable skilled-trades environment involving both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Recognized professional technical credential(s) demonstrating competency in both electrical systems and mechanical/engine systems.
• Prior experience supervising, leading, mentoring, and directing technicians in a service, repair, marina, boatyard, automotive, heavy-equipment, industrial, or comparable environment.
• Demonstrated ability to organize multiple active jobs, set priorities, monitor labor and progress, hold employees accountable, and communicate issues before they affect customer commitments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain clear work-order and technical documentation.
• Ability to work on-site in Anacortes and move between company marinas, shops, docks, and customer vessels as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications

• Marine/yacht service experience overseeing multiple technical disciplines
• ABYC Marine Electrical Technician, Advanced Marine Electrical Technician, Marine Systems Technician, Marine Engines and Fuel Systems Technician, ABYC Master Technician, or comparable marine-industry credentials
• Manufacturer certifications or advanced training involving diesel or gasoline marine engines, outboards, generators, propulsion, electrical, electronics, or related vessel systems
• Experience supervising a mixed team of electricians, mechanics, outfitters, and other marine-service technicians
• Experience coordinating warranty issues, technical escalations, sea trials, commissioning, and final quality-control inspections

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly move between offices, shops, yards, docks, marinas, and customer vessels to supervise work and conduct inspections
• Safely board vessels; walk docks and uneven surfaces; climb ladders or steps; and bend, kneel, crouch, or enter machinery spaces when needed to inspect work
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds in connection with normal supervisory, inspection, and service-coordination activities
• Work around moving machinery, electrical systems, fuels, solvents, noise, weather, and marine conditions while using required personal protective equipment
• Travel locally between company marinas, customer vessels, vendors, and other Service locations when required by the assignment

WORKING HOURS & BENEFITS

- Regular full-time, on-site position. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional overtime, sea trials, or schedule adjustments based on Service needs
