Job summary

West Alton Marina is seeking a Marine Service Expeditor to join its Mercury, MerCruiser, and Volvo Penta authorized service center in New Hampshire. The role focuses on logistics support, enabling technicians to stay focused on repairs while handling boat handling, water logistics, and yard operations.

You will work closely with certified marine technicians, a heavy equipment operator, and front-office staff to keep the department running smoothly and safely throughout the busy season.

Qualifications

• Experience in a marine yard environment with strong boat handling and docking skills.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• NH Boater’s Safety License required.
• Comfort with physical labor in outdoor seasonal marine environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily with the office to track active jobs and stage boats.
• Perform vessel intake and note pre-existing conditions; ensure workmanship is delivered clean and complete.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop floor; manage supplies to prevent downtime.
• Assist during peak periods with boat bottom washing, shrink wrapping, pump-outs, and routine replacements.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Marine Service Expeditor to join our Mercury, MerCruiser, and Volvo Penta authorized service center.

This role is the ideal next step for an experienced marine yard hand looking to advance into a proactive, high-impact position on a service team. You will serve as a core logistical support player; working hand-in-hand with our certified marine technicians, heavy equipment operator, and front-office coordinator to keep the wheels greased and the details polished across the entire department.

Your primary mission is to keep our technicians focused on turning wrenches by handling the logistical details that slow them down. Boat handling and water logistics are core parts of the job; you must be completely comfortable operating, docking, and moving customer vessels on the water and throughout the yard.

We do not have a valet program or a sales department. This position exists solely to support the safe, clean, and effective operation of our busy, in-house service center.

Core Responsibilities

• Staging & Preparation: Coordinate daily with the office to track active jobs. Retrieve customer boats from slips or storage, safely stage them onto trailers or blocks, and ensure work bays are prepped with the necessary parts and space so technicians can work without interruption.
• Vessel Intake & Quality Control: Perform initial physical walkthroughs of incoming vessels to accurately note pre-existing conditions and verify engine/vessel details. Review completed physical work prior to launch to ensure customer issues are fixed, and detail touchpoints (wiping down grease, removing footprints, checking basic fluids) so boats are delivered in pristine shape.
• Shop Housekeeping & Workstation Support: Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized shop floor. Monitor and distribute physical shop supplies directly to individual workstations to eliminate technician downtime.
• Seasonal Yard Operations: Provide hands‑on assistance during peak periods with boat bottom washing, shrink wrapping, waste pump‑outs, and basic routine replacements like batteries and bilge pumps.

Qualifications

• Practical experience working in a marine yard environment with strong boat handling and docking skills.
• Valid Driver’s License & NH Boater’s Safety License required.
• A strong work ethic, exceptional organizational habits, and a high standard for cleanliness and detail.
• Ability to comfortably perform physical labor in an active, outdoor, seasonal marine environment.
• Note: Because administrative paperwork and complex mechanical diagnostics are handled by other team members, advanced computer literacy and professional mechanical certifications are not required for this role.
