Job summary

The Department of Marine Resources in Maine seeks a Marine Resource Scientist II to join the West Boothbay Harbor team. You will perform scientific data collection, analysis, and supervise staff as needed, supporting shellfish harvesting area classifications and water quality programs.

The role offers a path for growth, some remote work after approval, and a comprehensive benefits package. Salary ranges from $67,184 to $95,410 per year with a 5.5% increase included.

Qualifications

• Understanding of coastal oceanography and environmental pollution issues.
• Strong analytical and data management skills.
• Experience with supervision or team leadership helpful.
• Familiarity with water quality data and QA/QC procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain shellfish growing area classifications.
• Operate Water Quality program boat operations.
• Collect seawater samples from Maine coast.
• Perform data analysis and QA/QC on water quality data.
• Manage and respond to emergency events for conditional areas.
• Prepare reports and supervise staff as needed.
• Coordinate field scheduling and equipment maintenance.
