Qualifications

• USCG license (100 tons or above) active and valid.
• First Aid, CPR and AED certifications current.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe navigation and operation of vessels per NOAA guidelines and COLREGS.
• Respond to shipboard emergencies and participate in drills.
• Maintain vessels per NOAA Small Boat Program requirements; conduct risk assessments.
• Coordinate and oversee repairs and engineering work with contractors.
• Verify cruise and float plans and communicate with shore-side contacts.
• Lead safety briefings and ensure adherence to safety procedures underway.
• Operate deck equipment (A-frame, winch, capstan, boat crane, dive air compressor).
• Document vessel activities in ship’s log.
• Be available for emergency responses.
