Job summary

Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. is seeking experienced Small Boat Captains to support NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary in Santa Barbara, CA.

You will operate and maintain research vessels for scientific, monitoring, and outreach missions, collaborating closely with scientists, managers, and educators. Ideal candidates have an active USCG license (100 tons+), current First Aid/CPR/AED, and at least 2 years on NOAA or similar vessels.

Qualifications

• Active USCG license (100 tons or above)
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
• At least 2 years of experience on NOAA or similar research/law enforcement vessels
• Ability to work collegially with scientists, managers, and educators
• Experience operating overhead load handling equipment (winches, cranes, A-Frames, etc.)
• Experience with deployment/recovery of scientific equipment, divers, and skiffs
• Experience performing maintenance on marine engines and systems
• Working knowledge of USCG navigation rules and FCC marine radio operations
• Physically able to lift and carry 75 pounds
• Ability to work in confined spaces and remote, offshore environments
