Job summary

Mercury Marine, a Brunswick Corporation division in Oshkosh, WI, is seeking a Drives & Propulsion Systems Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. You will collaborate with engineers to test propulsion systems for outboard and sterndrive motors, manage projects end-to-end, and gain exposure to multiple engineering domains.

The role targets a rising sophomore with a Mechanical/Aerospace/Naval background, strong data skills in Python/ Matlab, and a commitment to full-time summer work.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
• Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
• Able to work full time during the summer May-August 2027.
• Interest or experience with aerodynamic/hydrodynamic system design, analysis, and optimization.
• Experience with Python, Matlab, or similar for data analysis and tool creation.
• Experience designing and executing tests.
• Strong report writing and documentation skills.
• US Work Authorization Required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing on-water boat tests, analyze data, and write summary reports.
• Request CFD/FEA simulations for validation before prototype testing.
• Utilize load cells to measure propulsor loads in various sea conditions.
• Feed results into 1‑dimensional performance prediction models.
• Drive hydrodynamic shape changes to meet requirements during development.
