Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Marine Oiler to assist in the operation and maintenance of ferry equipment at the Staten Island Ferry. Qualifications

• Must have a valid U.S. Coast Guard MMC as a Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) or QMED.
• Should possess a valid U.S. Coast Guard MMC endorsement for Third Assistant Engineer or higher.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Marine Engineer in operation and maintenance of ferry equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and emergency duties as needed.
• Maintain logs and reports of operations and maintenance.

Operation, maintenance, and repair of motor ferry operation

Inspection and diagnosis of mechanical issues

Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures

Education

Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with endorsement
