Job summary

James Fisher Defence (JFD) Sweden in Vaxholm seeks a hands-on Mechanical Technician to assemble, test and maintain marine systems in a production workshop environment. You will ensure compliance with QA standards while meeting project deadlines and delivering high-quality work.

The role requires reading technical drawings, expertise with diesel engines and propulsion units, and strong teamwork in an international setting. Some travel to local and international sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in technically advanced, safety-critical environments and hands-on mechanical work.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Swedish.
• Methodical and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install and test mechanical subassemblies and systems per specifications and project schedules.
• Carry out installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of marine engines, waterjets, and workshop equipment.
• Perform composite work, laminating, painting and system integration on products.
• Conduct Factory, Harbour and Sea Acceptance Testing and support commissioning activities.
• Operate workshop equipment safely and maintain documentation and QA records.
• Maintain tools and work areas to high safety and readiness standards.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, adapting to changing priorities.
