Job summary

Allen Marine Tours in Juneau, AK seeks a Marine Mechanic II on-site to troubleshoot and repair marine diesel and gas engines, generators, jets, propulsion systems and related electronics on vessels from 19 to 200+ feet.

You will diagnose engine problems, perform repairs, and assist with training junior team members. The position requires 4+ years in marine mechanical work, and travel to other ports in Southeast Alaska may be needed. Attractive benefits and career growth are offered.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Experience with analog and electronic systems.
• Ability to safely operate machinery.
• Journey-level knowledge of diesel/marine mechanic practices and tools.
• 4+ years of experience in marine, heavy diesel or related mechanical field.
• Experience installing and repairing electronic systems.
• Proficiency in reading and applying technical manuals, schematics and marine engineer drawings.
• Ability to travel periodically to other ports in Southeast, AK for repair projects.
• Safe operation of hand and power tools.
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work effectively with a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and troubleshoot diesel, gas and propane engines, generators, jets, shaft, pumps and propellers.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment and valves.
• Fabricate and install brackets and manifolds.
• Install piping and bathroom fixtures.
• Run fuel lines, wiring harnesses and control cables.
• Rebuild and overhaul diesel and gas engines per manuals.
• Test marine engines and equipment.
• Lead and coach junior team-members with all job duties.
• Receive direction from and provide feedback to supervisor regarding status and solutions.
• Assist with inventory and purchasing for Mechanical Department.
• Maintain accurate work-log and keep the facility organized.
• Occasional ride-alongs as Deckhand as needed.
