We are seeking a Full-Time Marine Mechanic to help us deliver award-winning customer service and create a unique and memorable experience for our customers. This position will assist the Service Manager in ensuring the success of the Marina at our SML and Blackwater Marinas.

Job Summary:

Marine Mechanics will report to the Service Manager and assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Service department. You will be part of a team that specializes in the maintenance, repair, and detailing of most makes and models of boats. As an Entry Level Marine Mechanic, you will gain extensive knowledge and skills by working with experienced Marine Mechanics. This is an excellent opportunity to become a certified Marine Mechanic.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Perform electrical diagnostics.
  2. Remove and repair engines, transoms, or outdrives.
  3. Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear.
  4. Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems.
  5. Rebuild parts such as engine cylinder blocks and outdrives.
  6. Install and repair accessories like radios and marine electronics.
  7. Maintain and stay current with all certifications.
  8. Complete repair work using the service scheduler within the established timeframe.
  9. Maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  10. Attend training and obtain certifications with Mercury, Volvo, Mastercraft, and Yamaha as needed (paid for by Goodhue).
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong attention to detail.
  2. Experience and certifications with manufacturers such as Mercury, Volvo, Yamaha, etc.
  3. Ability to thoroughly examine boats and effectively communicate the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
  4. Perform diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines and transmissions/drives/systems.
  5. Strong organizational skills.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  8. Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  9. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, capable of working independently and in a team.
  10. Eagerness to engage in a growing, fast-paced, industry-leading company.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
  2. Ability to work in confined spaces.
  3. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Education:

  1. Two years of experience in a repair or service facility or participation in and completion of a high school/vocational auto shop program.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Valid Driver's License.
  4. Boater's License (preferred).
