Job summary

Mills Marine in Newport News, VA is seeking a 1st Class Insulator to perform insulation and lagging work on U.S. Navy ship construction, repair, and modernization. The role requires planning, material needs, fabrication and installation with minimal supervision.

This temporary 1–3 month assignment involves working with piping, bulkhead, ventilation and machinery insulation, lifting up to 60 pounds, and shifts of 8–12 hours with possible overtime. Equal opportunity employer and benefits provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience in marine lagging or insulation roles.
• Ability to read and understand English.
• Proficiency with hand tools specific to insulation work.

Responsibilities

• Independently completing routine marine insulation tasks.
• Work with piping, bulkhead, overhead, ventilation, and machinery insulation work.
• Cleanup, staging.
• Using hand tools, measuring.
• Maintaining a safe and clean environment.
• Following directions and the lead of the supervisor and task manager.
