Position Summary:

The Marine Lagger and Insulator Independently performs the complete range of insulation and lagging work associated with U.S. Navy ship construction, repair, alteration, and modernization. Expected to identify requirements, plan the work, determine material/tool needs, fabricate and install insulation, and present inspection-ready work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ship board or ship yard experience
• Proven experience in marine lagging or insulation roles.
• Ability to read and understand English.
• Proficiency in using hand tools specific to insulation and insulation work .
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various marine environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 years or more marine lagging or insulating experience .
• Experience working with specialized insulation for piping, machinery compartment and ventilation insulation
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to marine vessel fabrication.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Lift and carry up to 60 pounds.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Ability to use hand tools and measurement tools

Continuous visual awareness and mental focus.

Ability to work 8–12-hour shifts.

Availability to work 5–7 days per week, including overtime as needed.

Employment Requirements

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.

Required physical examination and respirator fit testing.

Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Background check, including verification of the past seven years of employment history.
