Job summary

Orion is seeking an entry‑level Field Engineer to provide field engineering support for marine and heavy civil construction projects in the Tampa area. The role integrates surveying, layout, quantity calculations, project documentation, and coordination with Project Managers and field crews on active sites.

This position offers hands‑on experience with a self‑performing contractor, exposure to bid development, procurement coordination, and ongoing safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience, required.
• Internships or hands‑on experience in marine construction or heavy civil construction is preferred but not required.
• Entry‑level and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Support field engineering, construction layout, surveying, project controls, documentation, and coordination of construction activities.
• Assist in development of bid proposals for upcoming marine and heavy civil construction projects when assigned to an office.
• Assist with estimating project costs, including materials, services, labor, equipment, and other associated costs.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, project plans, specifications, and related technical documents.
