Job summary

Woolpert is seeking a Marine Geophysical Specialist to join our Maritime Team. You will conduct marine geophysical surveys using industry-standard sensors and software, with travel to Alaska, Hawaii, and the contiguous USA.

The role requires the ability to work in field conditions, including transport of vessels up to 30 feet and long field shifts. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in surveying/geomatics/oceanography/geophysics and 5+ years of related experience, or a master’s with 3+ years.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying/geomatics/oceanography/geophysics with 5+ years of related experience or Master’s with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, self-manage, and manage others.
  • Experience with installation, calibration, operation, post-processing, analysis, QA/QC of geophysical systems.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software packages listed under tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform marine geophysical surveys for government and private sector clients across energy, telecommunications, environmental remediation, transportation and utilities.
  • Travel up to 50% for project-related purposes.
  • Operate survey systems (multibeam, side-scan, sub-bottom profilers, magnetometers, gradiometers, GNSS)
  • Support field planning, logistics, proposal writing, estimating and reporting when not in the field.
  • Assist with data processing, QA/QC, and data interpretation.
  • Adapt to atypical tools and methods (GNSS topographic survey, vessel-based LiDAR, drone ops, etc.).
  • Provide system integration, data quality control, and troubleshooting across the project life cycle.
