Qualifications

• 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
• Secret security clearance required
• Highly skilled in modeling software including MATLAB and Python
• Ability to perform independent research on geological, geophysical, geochemical, geotechnical, and sedimentological seafloor characterization
• Develop geological and geo-acoustic models for Navy acoustic system performance prediction and mine warfare/mine countermeasures
• Knowledge of geophysical data collection, reduction, and interpretation techniques from current acoustic sensing systems
• Familiarity with tools like towed and hull-mounted multibeam sonar, sub-bottom profiling, and seismic systems
• Knowledge of sediment characterization methods and GIS software
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Oversee collection, analysis, management, and interpretation of oceanographic survey data
• Produce detailed geological and geotechnical reports and develop geologic/geo-acoustic models
• Strategize deployment of seafloor infrastructure and assess survey techniques
• Lead and collaborate on multidisciplinary challenges with opportunities for leadership
• Present scientific findings at internal meetings and in technical reports
• Advise leadership on database algorithms, data acquisition, and processing upgrades
• Conceive solutions using engineering/scientific principles for novel problems
• Prepare and present results to varied audiences and contribute to reports or papers
