The Opportunity

CACI is seeking an engineer with a minimum of seven years’ experience supporting Navy, MSC, USCG, or similar designs. The candidate should be able to apply theories and principles of science, mathematics, and standards such as MIL-STD-810 to solve shock and vibration technical problems. Responsibilities include developing design products like auxiliary systems, machinery tradeoff studies, shock and environmental analyses, and implementing best practices and process improvements. The role also involves enhancing shipboard system performance through technological advances and analyzing the environmental and human impact of these systems. Support for shipyard testing, production, quality assurance, and lifecycle deliverables, along with root cause failure analysis and factory acceptance testing, are also key aspects of this position.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop marine auxiliary and piping systems, review and analyze design documentation, and develop ship system specifications.
  2. Review and analyze mechanical and electrical propulsion systems, auxiliary/piping systems for technical data supporting Navy and commercial vessel design and construction.
  3. Provide engineering support including specification writing, design, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, marine drawing, SRD updates, ship checks, and other technical documentation in line with standards and good marine design practices.
  4. Write shock and environmental test procedures, evaluate design and test data, and prepare technical specifications.
  5. Research, plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate auxiliary systems, mechanical and electro-mechanical components, controls, engines, and hydraulic systems.
  6. Develop and oversee project deliverables, quality assurance, and risk assessments for Navy vessels.
  7. Demonstrate self-starting capabilities, multitasking, technical savvy, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and marketing abilities for CACI’s capabilities.
  8. Knowledge of commercial standards such as NVR, SOLAS, ASTM, ANSI, and NFPA.
Qualifications
  • Seven years of experience in US Naval Ship Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Safety, or related fields.
  • US Citizen with Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with codes and standards such as ABS, NVR, EPA, SOLAS, MIL-S901, Navy GSO, etc.
