Job summary

Dougherty Manufacturing in Edgewater, FL seeks a Boat Design Engineer to lead the design, modeling, and visualization of SOLACE Boats from concept to production.

You will create 3D models, renderings, and technical drawings for hulls, decks, interiors, and components, balancing aesthetics with marine engineering standards. Collaboration with production, marketing, and tooling teams is essential, with minimal travel for sea trials and shows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on marine design experience.
• Experience designing recreational or commercial boats (center consoles, powerboats, or similar).
• Proficiency in Rhino (Rhinoceros 3D) for hull and interior modeling.
• Proven rendering/visualization skills using tools like KeyShot or V-Ray.
• Knowledge of boat design fundamentals, hull form, hydrodynamics, weight and balance, and stability.

Responsibilities

• Create, refine, and maintain accurate 3D surface and solid models of hulls, decks, and components using Rhino.
• Produce photorealistic renderings and visual concepts for design reviews and marketing materials.
• Design boat interiors, helm stations, and production layouts balancing ergonomics and brand aesthetics.
• Engineer fiberglass/composite components with attention to lamination, core materials, and manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain accurate technical drawings and BOMs to support tooling and production.
