Job summary

YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the Swim Team Head Coach in developing competitive swimmers through skill mastery and goal setting. You will provide safe, age-appropriate instruction and help run practices, meets, and on-deck coaching to promote teamwork and the YMCA values.

The role requires evenings/weekends availability, CPR/AED and First Aid certification, and USA Swimming certification.

Qualifications

• Must have coaching background or competitive swimming experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with youth and families.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for practices and meets.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in daily practice planning and implementation.
• Provide positive, safe, and age-appropriate instruction to swimmers of varying skill levels.
• Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and YMCA core values in and out of the pool.
• Assist with swim meets, including warm-ups, timing, and coaching on deck.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

SCHEDULE: Must be available during team practices and meetsPAY RATE: $12.00The purpose of the Assistant Coach is to aid the Swim Team Head Coach in the development of competitive swim team participants through mastery of skills, knowledge of the sport, and goal setting.
